Your IELTS Results

Getting your IELTS results is easy! Whether you take IELTS on paper or a computer, you will get your results within a few days.
1When will I get my IELTS results?
You will get your IELTS test results based on which type of test you take.
Test Type Results in Days
IELTS on Paper 13 days after your written test
IELTS on Computer 3-5 days after your test
2Meaning of your IELTS score
Results for the IELTS test are given on a 9-band scale. They are designed to be easy and simple to understand. The results are reported as band scores on a scale from 1 to 9, with 1 being the lowest and 9 indicating the highest level of English language proficiency.

You will receive a band score for each section of the test—Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. These individual scores, which are equally weighted, are then averaged and rounded to the nearest half band, to produce an overall band score.

The same scoring system is used for all versions of the IELTS test .You can read more about how the IELTS test score is calculated here.

3Get a hardcopy of your IELTS results

What is a Test Report Form (TRF)?

A copy of your IELTS score is on your Test Report Form or TRF. You will receive only one copy of your IELTS Test Report Form, which is valid for two years. If you are applying for Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) or the United Kingdom Border Agency (UKBA), you can receive two copies of your TRF. You must present proof of application to CIC and UKBA in order to obtain these two copies.

Additional Test Report Form (ATRF)

Up to five copies of your TRF will be posted electronically to the relevant organisations you have listed on your IELTS application form for free. Further requests can be made but there may be additional administrative charges. Contact your test centre to make this request.

To pick up your TRF from the test Centre, you must bring the same form of identification that you used to register for the test with you. Keep in mind that your test centre is not permitted to send your test results via email, phone, or fax.

4Re-mark your IELTS test
You can ask for a review of your score(s) if you are not satisfied with your results through a process known as Enquiry on Results (EOR).

What happens during the review process?

  • Senior examiners/markers - who are not aware of the original marks awarded for each test section (Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking) - re-mark the test papers.
  • After receiving notice of the remark result, your test centre issues a new Test Report Form (TRF)if the score has changed.
Depending on a number of factors, such as the number of sections requested for a re-mark, the results of your EOR will be available in 2–21 days. Please get in touch with your test centre or IELTS Partner if you have not received a response after 21 days.

You must pay an enquiry on the results fee .If your band score changes, the fee will be fully refundable.

5Add your IELTS score on LinkedIn
You can proudly showcase your IELTS score as a reliable measure of your language proficiency to prospective employers around the world.

Why share your IELTS score?

  • You can prove to employers that you've taken the world’s most trusted test. Your score is an accurate indicator of your ability to communicate where English is the native language spoken.
  • Your IELTS score will appear on your LinkedIn feed once you add it to your profile, making your achievement visible to all your contacts and potential employers immediately.
  • With a complete LinkedIn profile, you are more likely to be discovered by recruiters.
When you provide recognising organisations with your Test Form Number, they can use the IELTS Results Verification Service external icon to check your IELTS results.
